Welcome to Wilson College Mumbai

Established in 2022, the Post Graduate programme for English: Literature, Media and Culture offers a unique and interdisciplinary approach to the study of literature. MA in English is a programme that equips students with advanced critical skills to understand the complex relationships between traditional literary systems and the ever-evolving landscape of media and culture. These courses recognize this evolution and prepare students to navigate a world saturated with diverse forms of storytelling and communication. The programme offers contemporary courses that engage with theory and praxis equally, as part of its curriculum. Attuned to the research-oriented world, our programme provides exposure to research throughout the 4 semesters of the course, culminating in a dissertation. In accordance with NEP 2020, the programme also offers an On Job Training (OJT) programme that gives students internship opportunities in diverse fields.

The PG Programme organises several co-curricular activities, featuring frequent guest lectures by experts from the academia, writers, filmmakers, etc. The department regularly conductsworkshops, field visits, and lectures from the Masterclass Series to provide students with increased exposure towards the ever-engaged and active field of literature in the 21st Century.

Vision

To cultivate globally informed scholars and practitioners who are attuned to diverse cultures, narratives, and media forms, fostering an understanding of the intricate dynamics of human society through interdisciplinary research, critical theory, and praxis.

To advance rigorous research and critical engagement with literature, media, and culture, fostering the development of innovative thinkers and effective communicators. We aim to empower students with the ability to critically analyze and create knowledge, bridging theory and practice, while addressing contemporary social, cultural, and media challenges.
